Every time I finish a rough draft, I feel like I'm on top of the world. Even though editing is hard, gritty, depressing work, finishing the first draft is absolutely the hardest part for me. So, I'm so excited to announce, that I've finished the rough draft for "Something Radiant" and I am on schedule to release it this summer. I will give a firm date in a later post.
For now, I thought I'd share a drawing I did in my own college figure drawing class, where so much of the inspiration for this story came from. It still hangs in a frame in my garage to remind me that of what I can do, though my 5 year old son always asks why there's a picture of a girl in her underwear hanging in the garage. (Though technically, it was a bikini. Just sayin'!)
This open window represents how long I have to finish the rough draft of "Something Radiant" before I have to start edits on "Spindle Cursed".
That's it, no more!
My brain is still fizzy from being chosen as a winner and getting to know the other authors who won with me. It's so much fun I can't settle down and work.
The window is closing as I type!
But don't worry, I will get it done! No more wasting time—not even to look for cool window pictures!
That's right! Spindle Cursed was one of the 5 stories chosen to be in this collection of Sleeping Beauty stories. I absolutely could not be more excited about this. The process of getting it published will begin soon and I'll be working with a professional editing team to revise and polish it. I'm looking forward to the process though I'm sure I will experience growing pains. Stay tuned for the release date announcement!
